January 2011 Annual Meeting
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!!!
This year has gone by so fast. As I am getting older, time is going faster. One thing good about it, I don't get bored at all, maybe just a little bit but I try to keep busy. I know doing God's work and duties helps me in my life day by day. As I think about the people I visit and give holy communion to and it is such a blessing. They are part of our family from St. Matthew's who are unable to attend the church services because of illness, sickness, disability or for other reasons. I sure am thankful for those who were able to help me at different times but we sure could use more help. Maybe someone who will dedicate herself or himself to do this work every Sunday or every other Sunday whichever is convenient for her or him. Please let Hilary, Scott or me know. I am willing to help you and train you as you go with me to the Denali Center or to the homes. Maybe other arrangements can be made. Think about it and pray about it, see what God has in plans for you ! All This has to do with doing God's work out in the community and each of us are called to this ministry. I believe this with all my heart. I know that there are many compassionate people from St. Matthew's Church who can do this work, you can step forward in faith in God and he will help and give you the guidance you need.
As a member and President of the Daughters of the King , I would like to invite you women to our monthly meeting which is 2nd Thursday of each month if you are interested. We have pamphlets to read if you would like that too. Just let me know or any of the members. We as Daughters pledge ourselves to a life-long program of prayer, service and evangelism dedicated to the spread of Christ's Kingdom and the strengthening of the spiritual life of our parish. If you are interested, just talk to me or to any of the members. Serving Jesus as our Lord and Savior is awesome and wonderful!
I hold Gwich'in Singing in the parish Hall of St. Matthew's the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each Month. Anyone who is interested can attend. We just have fun singing, praying and visiting and sometimes snacking. The time is 5:30 PM and we usually sing for an hour.
I am a member for the Faith into Tomorrow (FIT) GOOD NEWS ENDOWMENT BOARD and we had our face-to-face meeting at Meier Lake Conference Center on Dec 3 to Dec 5, 2010. We started our
meeting Friday evening and ended Sunday morning, and we attended
church at St. David's Church led by Rev. Ann Whitney. In the meeting we took care of all the business, ate very good and slept good. Thank God for everything. We even got to do a little Christmas shopping before we boarded the plane home! I learned a lot about FIT, about the 6 different ministries that this grant money is used for throughout Alaska in the Episcopal Churches. In the near future we will be advertising for some more grant money available so keep your eyes open.
Dec. 18th, Saturday we had the Christmas get-together Party at the parish hall with potluck, music, gifts, goody bags, visiting each other, just coming to gather to have a good time. Thank you very much! Mahsi' Choo! to everyone who helped by bringing food, setting up and cleaning up, playing music, bringing gifts for gift exchange and for others, for gift wrapping and for putting together the goody bags and for bringing yourselves because you all are gifts to others because of who you are!
My Love and Blessings goes out to each of you!!!
The Rev. Bella J. Savino
