January 2011 Annual Meeting
The St. Matthew's choir was greatly blessed during 2010 by the addition of several wonderful voices attached to equally wonderful people! We were delighted to welcome Maggie Castellini, Shannon Torrence, Laura Reed, and Mary Downs-Last to our group. This gives us an even dozen singers and more flexibility in our musical selections. We were also grateful for the voice and friendship of Diana Chase during September and October, and hope she will find her way back to Fairbanks again in the future!
The choir continues to provide an anthem at the 11:15 Sunday service during Fall, Winter and Spring, and rehearses Wednesday nights from 6-7 p.m. in the parish hall. It's a fun and fulfilling ministry and we invite other interested singers to join us! Please see me at church or give me a call, or just come to a rehearsal and see what it's all about. (And just because the choir pews are full on many Sundays doesn't mean that we can't add more people! Where there's a will, there's a way....)
ALSO! -- Brand-new this past fall is the St. Matthew's Round and Chant Choir, which sings at the 9:15 service. See the Organist's Report for more information!

Report of CHURCH ORGANIST
This year has been pretty standard in terms of organ, guitar, and banjo music continuing. I have been so swamped with 3 jobs that I have sadly not had time to work on the new songbook any more. However, I recently started the St. Matthew's Round and Chant Choir that sings at the 9:15 service. We practice at 5:30 each Wednesday, and encourage anyone who is interested to call me and/or just show up. We've performed 3 times thus far, including at Christmas Eve, and it appears to be well-received. The 9:15 service has recovered from the shock of actually having special music, and seems very keen on it at this time. The choir currently consists of: Ann Johnson, Laura Reed, Victor Apodaca, and me, with Victor the most recent recruit. I have received another expression of interest from one more person, so hopefully we will grow this little group and continue to provide music. We are definitely having a good time!
